What is Oscillation?
Oscillation
When a body moves back and front repeatedly about a mean position, its motion is called oscillation. After ratiely, if periodic motion of an object is such that during half of its time period it stay in one direction and during rest half in the opposite direction, then that type of motion is called oscillation.
Types of Sinusoidal Oscillation
i) Damped Oscillation: The electrical oscillations whose amplitude goes on decreasing with time are called damped oscillation. Fig 1.1 shows the waveform of damped electrical oscillations. Obviously, the electrical system in which these oscillations are generated has losses and some energy is lost during each oscillation.
ii) Undamped Oscillation: The electrical oscillation whose amplitude remains constant with time are called undamped oscillations. Fig 1.1 shows waveform of undamped electrical oscillations. Although the electrical system in which these oscillations are being generated has also losses but now right amount of energy is being supplied to overcome the losses.
